I just got back yesterday from spending two weeks at the Vermont Studio Center, where I felt like my art, practice and person were so wholly scrutinized...predominantly by myself. I worked and reworked a few canvases I brought, spat a glitter loogie on some masonite, and created a few things much akin to what you'd receive in the mail accompanying a solicitation for a children's leukemia foundation. Some of it wasn't bad, none of it really got me off. I drove home feeling a little uncertain about my practice...maybe I should have been a Political Economy major.
A distinguished visiting artist at VCS mentioned Francesco Clemente as a reference for my work. I looked him up last night, in the comfort of my own, well-decorated room, and realized: Oh shit, this is why I make art. The pieces here on the post are what followed during 5 hours of Twin Peaks. Gracias Senor Clemente
